Hawaii

“Aloha” means “hello” and “goodbye” in Hawaiian. Hawaii is one of the 50 US states; it’s also called the Aloha State.

And an “aloha shirt” is another name for a Hawaiian shirt.

A bus stop.

The buses here are open and made of wood.

Yacht parking.

Vast high-rise residential developments accommodate the endless demand for vacation homes on the islands.

The local population includes many Koreans and Japanese.

Hawaiians performing for shoppers at a mall.

“Aloha!”

“What’s the matter?”

“Nothing, just saying aloha!”

A pedestrian crosswalk button.

The fire hydrants are multifaceted and brutalist.

Water pipes come out from underground to form complex connections and are fenced in with posts for protection.

Phone booths with Hawaiian flowers.

Traffic lights.

Street signs.

The trash dumpsters are enormous.

An ashtray.

An electrical enclosure (almost like the ones in American Samoa).

There are pretty newspaper vending machines on the streets.

Hawaii is one of the few US states that would be interesting to visit again. Aloha!
