August 24–25, 2012

A fairly lively Turkish resort city of medium interestingness.

The touristy areas with paltry remnants of antiquity along the waterfront can be safely skipped.

But it’s worth strolling deeper into the city. There, you’ll find narrow quiet streets.

Skulls on electrical switchboards.

Little birdhouse-like cabinets inhabited by electricity meters behind round windows.

Every corner is a ready-made stage set.

The streets leading towards the sea are equipped with grate-covered storm drains.

A traffic light.

A wall-mounted payphone.

A freestanding payphone.

A fire hydrant.

A road worker drags a cone down the street. Lane control signals for reversible lanes can be seen in the background.

Address signs contain an arrow specifying the direction of the street (a Turkish tradition).

Sanitation workers pick up trash bags.

Owners of a mannequin shop chat outside.

A guy watches a television hanging from a tree.

A taxi driver waits for fares at the local dispatch stand (also a Turkish tradition).

A boy hanging onto the back of a pickup truck rides by.

Like I said, a fairly lively Turkish resort city of medium interestingness.
