South AfricaAugust 24...25, 2014 One of the surest signs of a civilized country is a nice post office at the airport. One that sells envelopes, postcards and souvenirs. And has a post box. ![]() South Africa is very pedantic when it comes to depicting lanes. ![]() The bunches of arrows look like ferns. ![]() Or seaweed. ![]() Or candleholders. ![]() A speed camera on a tripod. ![]() A rather unusual sign indicating a driveway entering the road from the left. ![]() Emergency telephone numbers without a single word. ![]() A speed bump in South Africa consists of a set of metal bowls. ![]() PretoriaMapA safe city for the rich. ![]() Well, relatively safe—you cant let your guard down in South Africa, so there are still fences around the buildings. ![]() And barbed wire. ![]() A man on the street. ![]() The traffic light poles most resemble New York in terms of design: the mast arm is similarly supported by two extra cables attached to the top of the pole. ![]() A bus stop. Someones butt sitting on the column on the right. ![]() A municipal trash can. ![]() Lots of greenery. ![]() And trees. ![]() BloemfonteinMapA city in which its hard to find any reason for visiting. ![]() Although the pipes welded together into traffic light poles are curious. Plumbing at the service of road safety, so to speak. ![]() In the steppe, I came across some beautiful trees with a man seated underneath them making equally beautiful trees out of twisted aluminum wire. ![]() We continue onwards. With a wire tree in the trunk, of course. ![]() |
