Poltava
Map
At first glance, Poltava looks like an ordinary provincial city.
With an attempt at original bus stops.
With its own payphone canopy.
With its own post box model.
With its own idea of beauty.
With its typical trash can.
With its unique trash can.
With its own life.
Do not block the driveway. No bathroom. No trespassing.
But when you take a closer look, you notice that Poltava has a truly unique feature: a custom of decorating parts of the building facades under the windows with pretty glazed tile.
You wont find beauty like this anywhere else.
Sumy
Map
A very green city with absolutely nothing to do.
Maybe check out the bulletin board triangles around the lampposts?
Or the wide parking bays for trash dumpsters?
No, I think we can safely move on.
Konotop
Map
The only remarkable thing about Konotop is that the pedestrian lights are situated at a height equal to about 2.5 times that of the average human.
Otherwise, the place is pretty faceless.
Chernihiv
Map
An interesting effect: if you drive in from the direction of Kiev, you see nothing but highway at first, then the church appears, and then the center of the city directly after it.
It was a pretty city once.
The post boxes in Chernihiv are mounted on particularly beautiful stands, rather than on the walls.
The streets are decorated with particularly beautiful trash cans.
Cars park in front of particularly beautiful curb stops.
Vendors sell particularly beautiful films.
Miracle of Faith: Why Icons Stream Myrrh
The walls are adorned with particularly beautiful sayings.
Brodsky is a dickhead

And so the 2009 Ethnographic Expedition comes to an end.
And thats a true story—if you dont believe me, go see for yourself.
