Another closed city.

Terrorism—A Threat to Society. Temporary permit window

Entry is by permit only.

This is where the primary mission control center for Russian military satellites is located.

In simpler terms, this is where they control all the unmanned satellites, including GLONASS (the Russian GPS).

It looks like an ordinary suburb.

The only difference is that everything here is space-themed.

Café-Bar Cosmos. 24 hours

Rockets, satellites everywhere.

Glory to the space pioneers

The side of every building is bursting with pride.

Russia—a great space power

Stars.

Stars everywhere.

The evolution of the Krasnoznamensk building number and street name sign.

Park Street

The railing running along the paths frequently makes rectangular detours onto the lawn to accommodate trash cans.

The benches here are definitely unique.

And there’s a special series of apartment buildings with an additional narrow window on an otherwise blind wall. For some reason, the residents have no appreciation for this architectural flourish, and most of the windows are bricked up.

A sign which indicates that fire trucks can be refilled from the local pond.

A street sign.

Krasnoznamennaya St.

A bulletin board.

The fire prevention PSA is visible only to residents on the top floors.

Don’t play with fire!

Lords of the air streams.

Lords of the air streams

A marvelous idea—to hang banners that say “our homeland” on every building. Would make for a great art project.

Our Homeland
