“Marksistskaya” metro station

at some point in 2005

I was walking across Taganskaya square one night when I walked past the Marksistskaya metro station and noticed the doors were open. So I went in, especially since I had my camera on me.

I go into the foyer — there’s no one. Just the turnstiles and a cleaning lady dozing on a bench.

I found out who’s watching over the coppers.

Police

Went down inside the station — it was empty.

I’d been planning to photograph the thingamajig you see on one end of every station, I can’t remember what it’s called now, the one where they put strange objects they’ve found (even if something were to explode inside the thingamajig, the station would remain standing).

I went into the tunnel.

Looked out onto the platform.

I’d been wanting to go down onto the tracks for a long time, so I decided to treat myself. Especially since I caught the third rail at a time when it wasn’t carrying any electricity.

I had to walk up a switched off escalator on my way out.

The exit door happened to be unlocked, and I went on my way.
