BudapestMapJanuary 20–21, 2015 The outskirts of the city are predictably horrid. ![]() But the downtown is full of incredible beauty and awesomeness. Budapest is one of the most pleasant cities in the world. ![]() The atmosphere is reminiscent of Saint Petersburg in some ways. The false teeth of plastic windows also fail to ruin the beauty of the architecture here. ![]() A street toilet. ![]() A parking meter. ![]() A loading/unloading zone. ![]() And here’s the loading/unloading. ![]() A pretty new street sign, with an old one that’s half-painted over visible above it. ![]() The old one looked like this. ![]() The city now has a bike-sharing system. ![]() A street cleaner with a street vacuum. ![]() An amazingly beautiful bus stop sign. ![]() A real post box. ![]() A painting of a post box. ![]() You step into a random café for a cup of espresso—and find yourself in what is practically the Sistine Chapel. People knew how to make things beautiful once. Not anymore. ![]() |
