Murmansk

Map

December 22–23, 2012

The city is quite lively.

Active nuclear-powered icebreakers.

Frozen streams (a common occurrence in Murmansk) outside the office of Rosatomflot, Russia’s nuclear icebreaker fleet operator, are illuminated with multi-colored lights—very pretty.

The icebreaker Lenin has been turned into a museum.

Inside, a small sculpture of Lenin at his desk has been lovingly wrapped with tinsel.

The country’s main aircraft-carrying cruiser, Kuznetsov, is constantly undergoing repairs. Right next to it is a parking lot.

“From classic to glamorous,” promises the ad.

From classic to glamorous. Laminate flooring, wallpaper

Classic and glamorous are combined by this group which has pulled up to the Alyosha monument in a limo to pose for photos.
