CaribEthnoExp. IX. Grenada

Map

March 14 ... April 5, 2014

Grenada is lovely.

There’s something that actually resembles a city here, which is rare for the Caribbean.

St. George’s

Map

The entire city (and the country as a whole) is situated on diagonals and verticals. The only flat piece of land is occupied by the airport.

It’s like Vladivostok, only without any plains whatsoever.

Everybody lives on top of one another.

Bock bock bock.

The local fire hydrant.

Traffic lights.

Street name signs.

A rainwater drainage ditch.

A street.

A side street.

An alley.

A house.

Colonial architecture.

A tunnel for both cars and pedestrians.

Locals.

Grenadians love arrows. Doctor that way.

Gallery waaaay over there.

Slot machines this way.

Bars over a shop window.

A grocery store.

A policeman.

Old payphone booths.

New payphone booths.

A bus stop sign.

A trash can.

A post box.

Hillsborough

Map

The island of Carriacou summed up in one picture.

It’s peaceful and quiet here.

An islander.

Window bars.

A view of the sea.

They love arrows here, too. Here’s the bus stop.

And here’s the mailbox. Can’t miss it.

A beer ad.

By the way, there are no electronic displays at the airport. All the flight information is laid out by hand using plastic letters.
