Crimea in February 2015MapFebruary 7–8, 2015 Crimea is chilly and gloomy in the winter. Which has its own charm. SevastopolMapThere’s a Best Western hotel in Sevastopol. My first thought was, how is this international chain even present here when every normal company is afraid of sanctions and won’t operate in Crimea? But then I realized that only Asians would call their business Best Western. And they haven’t imposed any sanctions on Russia. The view from the hotel is one of the best in the city. ![]() YevpatoriyaMapThe only place where there’s sunshine this time of year is the bus stop. ![]() SUNSHI VE The scenery. ![]() The city. ![]() I really liked the city, by the way. It somehow reminded me of old Turkish towns in Albania. ![]() A bus stop. ![]() A perfect backdrop for any Zvyagintsev film. ![]() A playground. ![]() With the sea nearby. ![]() A tram. ![]() The Russian tricolor. ![]() I feel very sorry for those who have never been to Yevpatoriya! —V.
