PodgoricaMapFebruary 10–12, 2015 The most beautiful place in Montenegro is in the center of the country, on the way to Podgorica from the coast. ![]() There isn’t much beauty in Podgorica itself, save for two buildings with very handsome balconies (the second is directly opposite this one on the other side of the street). ![]() Transformers welded together from car parts are the city’s only decoration. ![]() Welcome to the capital of Montenegro! ![]() Then again, not all the trash ends up on the ground. There are dumpsters as well. ![]() A space-age trash can. ![]() Space-age lampposts. ![]() Curiously enough, Montenegro still uses the archaic (from our point of view) form of the Cyrillic letter A. Both in fonts. ![]() And in handwriting. ![]() There’s lots of firewood in the city. Which means there’s no central heating. ![]() In some instances, the level of poverty is downright African. It’s impossible not to notice the shape of the stick in the old woman’s hands. What this means is that an ordinary straight broomstick is already beyond her means. ![]() |
