Communism dies hard in Perm.

Communism shall be victorious

I’ve noticed an interesting feature: fences connecting two adjacent buildings, with gateways for vehicles and pedestrians. There are very many like this one around the city. Apparently, there used to be many in other cities as well, but they were mostly demolished.

A remarkable artifact, “Distr. № 121,” remains on the corner of the building (compare to Gyanja). Once upon a time, there were beautiful street name signs in Perm—they even used both uppercase and lowercase letters.

Bolshevik Street

The contemporary version is a pathetic attempt to copy the style of Moscow street signs, and is also particularly abominable in terms of design.

The clash of generations.
