KievMapApril 19–21, 2014 Something strange is happening in Ukraine. Men of fertile age are being sent back on the same planes they arrived on. In order to get into the country, you have to get creative and arm yourself with a good excuse. Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow has separate check-in desks for all flights to Ukraine, and male passengers are warned that they may have problems entering the country.  The president has fled. The Maidan protests are over, but the barricades are still up. Bums and tourists stroll along Khreshchatyk Street, which reeks of sewage and is partially obstructed by a wrecked water cannon that didn’t get a chance to be put to use.  Spring is here.  |
