KievMapJuly 22–24, 2003 The enthronement of poor taste in Kiev’s central square, Maidan Nezalezhnosti, is now complete.  Kiev is full of cobbled streets.  Ancient Russian idols.  Retired dumpsters.  Payphones.  A traffic light, which counts down the seconds for pedestrians.  There’s an experiment underway in Kiev — you can turn right on red at a few selected intersections, provided this doesn’t bother pedestrians (like in Germany).  |
