Saint PetersburgMapJune 16–17, 2009 The assortment of gifts at the train station should blow visitors’ minds. ![]() Saint Petersburg has started painting thick red stripes on the road in front of pedestrian crossings. As if to say, watch out, zebra crossing ahead. A complete waste of paint, if you ask me. ![]() Trams have a special “attention, people disembarking” light. It’s kind of hard to see, but it’s the right idea. ![]() There are special display stands for show bills throughout the city, with semi-circular roofs to protect the posters from precipitation. ![]() If there’s one place where the payphone booths are more hideous than in Moscow, it’s Saint Petersburg. They’re actually just a devious way to get outdoor advertising space under the pretense of providing a public service for people without cellphones. ![]() The wires are beautifully coiled. ![]() Local taxi drivers came up with the idea of splitting the city into zones so that it would be easier to charge a certain amount for trips to a specific zone. But it’s still simpler, cheaper and more pleasant to negotiate a fare with a gypsy cab. ![]() People are very cultured about unloading asphalt here. ![]() It’s the cultural capital, after all. ![]() Fuckheds!!! Dicks! |
